Saaho Movie Review: Rebel star Prabhas’s much-awaited movie Sahoo hits theatres today with huge expectations, After winning the hearts across the world wide movie lovers with Baahubali series Prabhas is finally back on the silver screen with Sahoo. Ever since the movie was announced movie lovers across India, especially in the Telugu states, are waiting with bated breath to catch this movie. Let’s see the movie meet the expectations or not.

Story: Sahoo movie begins with the death of Roy (Jackie Shroff) in a road accident, in a meantime a high profile robbery worth Rs.2 Thousand Crores takes place in Mumbai which results and a special undercover cop will be engaged to find the culprit Ashok Chakravarthy (Prabhas), is the undercover cop who has a team under him and Amritha Nair (Shraddha Kapoor) is one of his team members, however, they fall each other and they both try to find the culprit in the robberies. Here is the twist in the tale and movie moves to mafia dominated Waaji City and Devaraj (Chunkey Pandey) is a mafia don here comes another twist, a black box secretly placed in a strong locker the dons, the cops, and the thief have a common link.  They all want the black box and which is a key for 2 lakh crore worth money. Who gets hold of them in the end?  Who killed Jackie Shroff? Who the Saaho? All these form crux of the film.
Performances: Prabhas has done a good job, His energy and body language worked out well. But his looks and makeup in some shots could have been better.  He did a fantastic job in action parts. Shraddha Kapoor is nice in Amrutha role she got enough length and importance in role and she carried the emotions well. Arun Vijay is good as the stylish and suave looking don. Bollywood actors Jackie Shroff, Neil Nithin Mukesh and Mahesh Manjrekar are fitted the bill. Chunkey Pandey and Mandira Bedi got meaty roles. Murali Sharma is good as the hero’s trusted assistant and the rest of the casts performed accordingly in their roles.

Analysis: The movie Songs composed by four different music composers are shot well, but seem unnecessary due to bad placements. Ghibran’s background score is good and noteworthy, especially in action scenes. The movie Cinematography by Madhi is excellent and world-class. Sabu Cyril’s artwork is top class and Kamal Kannan’s VFX work is superb. Kenny Bates action stunts will definitely stand out and the action episodes are sensational for Indian standards. The movie Producers have liberally spent to make it look like an international film, Money can be seen in every frame and absolutely Production values are topnotch.

Sahoo movie plot is weak and the problem lies with the narration. Too many twists and a weak storyline have not gone well with them. Sujeeth got a very good opportunity during the very initial stages of his career. Sad he could have done a better job due to his inexperience in handling the story and sluggish screenplay did all the damage. Saaho fails to involve the audience right from the beginning.  The movie first half of the movie bores you up until the interval and picks up the pace. The second half has a bunch of twists pre-climax episodes is impressive and the last 30 minutes is pretty good.

Plus Points:

  • Prabhas Performance
  • Action Episodes
  • BGM and Cinematography

Minus Points:

  • Weak Story
  • Clichéd Screenplay
  • Lengthy Runtime

Verdict: All in all Saaho ends up as an average fare action thriller which has a thin story plot. Prabhas intro, bike chasing scene, interval block, and the climax action sequence is good. If you are an action movie lover, you would like the film if you don’t have much interest in the commercial action entertainers, then it will not suit you.
