Story: The movie opens with a flashback in the year of 2003 where Two Indian families from New York were killed by their business partners, the story shifts to after 14 years Amar (Ravi Teja) who releases from prison and he targets people that killed his parents. He also suffers from Dissociate identity disorder which makes him behave like different persons. There is Pooja (Ileana) who has the same problem too. Did they take their revenge? Who are Akbar and Anthony? To get these answers, watch the movie on Big Screen.
Performances: Ravi Teja has done an impressive job in playing the three characters His energy levels and his outstanding performance stands out. He carries the film on his shoulders. Ileana is beautiful and looks stunning as ever and performed well and gave us a good comeback. Noted actor Sunil enters the scene in the second half, but makes his presence felt with his mark comedy. Satya is impressive and His parody on KA Paul is hilarious. The film has a bunch of talented casts like Vennala Kishore, Laya, Srinivas Reddy, Tanikella Bharani, Vikramjit, Abhimanyu Singh, Ravi Prakash, Tarun Arora, Aditya Menon, Raghu Babu, Jayaprakash Reddy, have given best in their given roles.
Technical Aspects: The movie music composed by SS.Thaman is decent. The songs are just good but the background score is excellent. Cinematographer Venkat C Dileep handled the camera well and produced some good and beautiful visuals. The production values of Mythri Movie Makers are rich. The successful production house spent a lot and didn’t compromise on the quality. The movie director Srinu Vaitla who himself desperately needs a success after debacles like Aagadu, Bruce Lee, Mister, But this time his come up with a revenge entertainer and tried to make it interesting by introducing multiple personality disorder, But the number of flashbacks and voiceover to explain things feels bored to the audience. And too many comedians the comic track looks overstuffed. The movie Dialogues are as usual in Srinu Vaitla style.
- Ravi Teja Performance
- Few comedy scenes
- Production Values
- Predictable story
- Poor screenplay
- Missing Emotional Connect
Verdict: Amar Akbar Anthony is a revenge-based commercial entertainer. The movie First half is decent setting up the characters with the light comedy. The Second half starts with a dull note and heavy flashback and it goes into details of the childhood of lead roles and runs in a very predictable way. Even the songs coming as speed breakers at times But the Energetic Ravi Teja performance and the Bunch of comedians are the usual Sreenu Vaitla style of comedy works well. On the flipside, the story is routine predictable and Messy. Overall AAA Film has nothing new to offer and can only be given a shot if you have absolutely nothing to do.
